The Voice/Choir Music Laboratory is one of the 3 music laboratories under the motto CHOIR-SÃO – IN PORTIMÃO, supervised by Margarida Mestre. This laboratory is based on research into ORALITIES among people, recordings, literary records, revealed memories, popular wisdom, which will be the material with which scores will be composed, sung by those who wish to join in celebrating the city’s centenary. Let’s GIVE VOICE to this place! Colour the Skin – Heal the Gift – Gild the Earth – Sing its Sound.

MARGARIDA MESTRE is the conductor of several Community Choir projects throughout the country.

CARMEN MAMPEL JUNCADELLA is the conductor of the Aljezur International Choir, instrumentalist and composer.

Target audience: M/6 years old, with or without experience in voice or singing. We encourage and appreciate the participation of Choral Groups.

Biography Margarida Mestre

She has a background in Early Childhood Education (ESEI-MU), Dance (Fórum Dança – Course for Dance Monitors for the Community), Sound (Sound Design – IFICT), Music (Course for Music Initiation Guides – Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation) and Performance, which she studied and practiced in Portugal, Europe and New York, where she spent two years with the Young Creators Grant.

She is a Conductor of Community Choirs, here are some of them: Festival Silêncio I, II, at the Silêncio festival in Lisbon and III at the Marvila Library; the “Coral Bestial” in Viseu; the “Corações ao Alto” ​​at the TODOS Festival Lisboa, Aljezur and Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation; “Grupo de Cantares de Espinheiro”, in Alcanena; “Oxalá” at the Circular Festival” and “Alento” in Ferreira do Alentejo; “Linguajar”, ​​based on traditional Algarve songs, Aljezur; “Paródica B.” in Lisbon, Bordalo Pinheiro Museum and the last Multi Cool Coral – Temporary Musical Territory”, at the invitation of the Giacometti Festival, Ferreira do Alentejo, 23. He has a Master’s degree in Performing Arts – Theatre of Movement from E.S.T.C. from Lisbon and completed the 1st year of the PhD in Artistic Education at the Institute of Education/FBAUP.

The work developed within the scope of these MUSICAL LABORATORIES will be presented at different moments of the artistic programme of the City’s Centenary, namely in the Burial Ceremonies associated with the MUSEU DO TEMPO project and in the Celebrations of Portimão City Day, on December 11, 2024.

Artistic programme: Lavrar o Mar – Cultural Cooperative for the celebration of the Centenary of the Elevation of Portimão to City (1924-2024), under a partnership established with the Municipality of Portimão.

O Laboratório Musical de Voz/Coro é um dos 3 laboratórios musicais sob o mote CORO-SÃO – EM PORTIMÃO, com orientação de Margarida Mestre. Este laboratório parte de uma pesquisa de ORALIDADES junto de pessoas, gravações, registos literários, memórias reveladas, sabedoria popular, que irão ser a matéria com que se compõem partituras cantadas por quem se quiser juntar para celebrar o centenário da cidade. Vamos DAR VOZ a este lugar! Corar a Pele – Sarar o Dom – Dourar a Terra – Cantar-lhe o Som.

Biografia Margarida Mestre

Tem formação em Educação de Infância (ESEI-MU), Dança (Fórum Dança- Curso de Monitores de Dança para a Comunidade), Som (Sonoplastia- IFICT), Música (Curso de Orientadores de Iniciação musical – Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian) e Performance que estudou e praticou em Portugal, na Europa e em Nova Iorque onde permaneceu dois anos com a Bolsa de Jovens Criadores.

É Maestrina de Coros Comunitários, eis alguns: Festival Silêncio I, II, no festival Silêncio em Lisboa e III na Biblioteca de Marvila; o “Coral Bestial” em Viseu; os “Corações ao Alto” no Festival TODOS Lisboa, Aljezur e Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian; “Grupo de Cantares de Espinheiro”, em Alcanena; “Oxalá” no Festival Circular” e “Alento” em Ferreira do Alentejo; “Linguajar”, a partir de canções tradicionais algarvias, Aljezur; a “Paródica B.” em Lisboa, Museu Bordalo Pinheiro e o último Multi Cool Coral – Território Temporário Musical “, a convite do Festival Giacometti, Ferreira do Alentejo, 23. É Mestre em Artes Performativas – Teatro do Movimento pela E.S.T.C. de Lisboa e terminou o 1º ano do Doutoramento em Educação Artística do Instituto de Educação/FBAUP.

O trabalho desenvolvido no âmbito destes LABORATÓRIOS MUSICAIS será apresentado em diferentes momentos da programação artística do Centenário da Cidade, nomeadamente nas Cerimónias de Enterro associadas ao projecto MUSEU DO TEMPO e nas Comemorações do Dia da Cidade de Portimão, a 11 de dezembro de 2024.

Programação artística: Lavrar o Mar – Cooperativa Cultural para a celebração do Centenário de Elevação de Portimão a Cidade (1924-2024), ao abrigo de uma parceira estabelecida com o Município de Portimão.
