“The Judge of Beira”, a farce by Gil Vicente, is a kind of sequel to “The play by Inês Pereira”. In this play, Inês marries Pêro Marques, who turns out to be a lackey. In “The Judge of Beira” we meet Pêro Marques again, still married to Inês Pereira, but this time as a judge. Ana Dias appears at his hearings, accusing Pêro Amaro’s son of raping her daughter; Alonso López, who incriminates Ana Dias of being a procuress; and a squire, who accuses Ana Dias of being a thief. Finally, four brothers (the Lazy One, the Dancer, the Amateur and the Quarrelsome One) come to fight over the inheritance left to them by their father.
As expected, Pêro Marques resolves all these disputes in the most absurd way, but, curiously, all the sentences end up being well-founded.

“O Juiz da Beira”, uma farsa de Gil Vicente, consiste numa espécie de continuação de “O auto de Inês Pereira”. Neste auto, Inês casa com Pêro Marques, que se revela um pau mandado. Em “O Juiz da Beira” vamos encontrar de novo Pêro Marques, ainda casado com Inês Pereira, mas desta vez feito juiz. Às suas audiências comparecem Ana Dias, que acusa o filho de Pêro Amaro de lhe ter violado a filha; Alonso López, que incrimina Ana Dias de ser alcoviteira; e um escudeiro, que acusa Ana Dias de ser ladra. Para finalizar, quatro irmãos (o Preguiçoso, o Bailador, o Amador e o Brigoso) vêm disputar a herança que lhes deixou o pai.
Como seria de prever, Pêro Marques resolve da forma mais absurda todos estes litígios, mas, curiosamente, todas as sentenças acabam por revelar-se arrazoadas.
