Storm, De Daniel Cardoso

The ballet “Storm” is a fictional story with a plot and music by the conductor and composer Armando Mota, and choreography by Daniel Cardoso, artistic director of Quorum Ballet, who will perform this work in its world premiere. This work aims to raise awareness of climate change and the danger of the islands of Culatra and Armona disappearing if the sea level rises by 1.50 m, as predicted by scientists. It is an erudite work, but it addresses Algarve themes such as the Baile Mandado. The plot is similar to “Romeo and Juliet” or “West Side Story”, but with contours merely from the region. It is a way for the Algarve to assert itself culturally, both nationally and internationally.

O bailado “Storm” é uma história fictícia com enredo e música, do maestro e compositor Armando Mota, e coreografia de Daniel Cardoso, diretor artístico do Quorum Ballet, que irá interpretar esta obra em estreia absoluta. Este trabalho pretende alertar para as alterações climáticas e para o perigo das ilhas da Culatra e Armona desaparecerem se o nível da água do mar subir 1m50 como preveem os cientistas. É uma obra erudita, mas que aborda temas algarvios como o Baile Mandado. O enredo é semelhante a um “Romeu e Julieta” ou “West Side Story”, mas com contornos meramente da região. É uma forma de o Algarve se afirmar culturalmente, tanto a nível nacional como a nível internacional.
